Cheered on by the crowd and after a show jumping competition that was hard to beat in terms of excitement, fischerChipmunk FRH and Germany's Michael Jung won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. Their lead over Christopher Burton in second and Laura Colett in third was wafer-thin. In the first round, the Contendro/Heraldik xx son (breeder: Dr Hilmer Meyer-Kulenkampff, Behlmer) had a fence down and made it exciting once again. In the end, it was enough to win by 0,6 points. This makes Michael Jung the first rider in history to win gold for the third time after 2012 and 2016 with his mount Sam.
fischerChipmunk FRH and Michael Jung were already in a promising position after the dressage with a personal best. In the cross-country, they danced to first place without any time penalties, a position they also held onto in the show jumping.
