Golden weekend in Warendorf: Nine Bundeschampions from Hannover!

The Bundeschampionate in Warendorf became a Hannoveraner festival. The result is sensational: nine Bundeschampions come from Hanover, plus five Vice-Champions and three bronze medallists.

Riding horses

The first Bundeschampion of the weekend was a Hannoveraner: La Vie/De Kooning daughter Hann.Pr.A. London Eye (breeder: Kathrin Wassmann, Badbergen) beat off the competition in the class of four-year-old mares and geldings. She was brilliantly presented by Hermann Burger. The victory in the class of four-year-old stallions also went to Hannover: The Libertad/Destano son Lindenberg (breeder: ZG Maack, Hamburg) and Jacob Schenk left the competition in their wake. In the impressive final of the three-year-old mares and geldings, Hann.Pr.A. Senorita La Bonita by Sir Heinrich/Westernhagen (breeder: Axel Windeler, Verden-Walle), who received the dream score of 10 twice, became Bundeschampionesse ahead of Boccaccio by Bonds/Dancier (breeder: Hans-Jürgen Hollmann, Geveshausen) with Danica Duen in the saddle. The final decision in the riding horse classes was that of the three-year-old stallions. As in the qualifier, the Majestic Taonga/Desperados son Majestic Day (breeder: Anna Genfors, Förslöw/SWE) and Hermann Burger came third.

Dressage horses

Greta Heemsoth celebrated a Hannoveraner double victory in the five-year-old dressage horse class. She won with the Fürst Samarant/Riverside daughter Hann.Pr.St. Felice (breeder: Rene Janzen, Wischhafen), with whom she had already won the qualifier. She came second with the privately owned stallion Endorphin by Escolar/Don Nobless (breeder: Ingo Pape, Hemmoor). This was a sensational success for Ingo Pape, who owns both horses. While Life Time FRH became World Champion in Ermelo, the former Verden auction horse Quentin by Quotenkönig/Lord Loxley (breeder: Stefan Carl Gebauer, Cologne) won the title of Bundeschampion of seven-year-old dressage horses with Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock. The Bundeschampionat for six-year-old dressage horses also saw two Hannoveraner horses in front. The winners were Be Sure by Benicio/Scuderia (breeder: Ludwig Fuchs, Meinerzhagen) and Eva Möller. Close behind was Veuve Clicquot by Vitalis/Fürst Heinrich (breeder: Josef Bramlage, Sögel) with Lars Ligus in second place.

Eventing horses

A Hannoveraner double victory was also celebrated on the cross-country course: Kasparow by Karajan/Diacontinus (breeder: Friedrich Thiesse, Steimbke) and Calvin Böckmann won the six-year-old class ahead of the defending champion Booze Buddy FRH by Balou Peggio/Valentino (breeder: Heinrich Reisinger, Gersten) and Pia Leuwer. In the five-year-old class, Daroca De Rioja by Diacontinus/Con Sherry (breeder: Georg Ludzuweit, Oberndorf) won the bronze medal with Libussa Lübbeke. Incidentally, all three horses won the Hannoveraner Championships of young eventing horses in different age groups.

Jumping horses

After two victories in the qualifiers, Chaqueen by Chacoon Blue/Quicksilber (breeder: ZG Kruse, Walsrode) and David Will lived up to their role as favourites in the final of seven-year-old show jumpers and became Bundeschampionesse. The powerful jumping grey mare had found a new owner at the Elite Auction in autumn 2022. The five-year-olds once again won two medals. Vice Bundeschampion was the Comme il faut NRW/Quintender son Comme mon père (breeder: Heinz-Wilhelm von Thaden, Stade). The former Verden auction horse was presented masterfully by Jana Fink. Third place went to Geoffrey (Rhld.) by George Z/Cornado (breeder: Heinrich Burmester, Brüninghorstedt), who came second in the Hannoveraner Show Jumping Masters last year, with Birgit Gärtner-Döller in the saddle. Not only the first, but also the last title of the Bundeschampionate went to Hannover. The spectacular weekend ended with the victory of Chacoona Cat by Chacoon Blue/Stanley (breeder: Friedel Cordes, Süderwalsede) and Sophie Hinners in the class of six-year-old show jumpers. But that was not all, ‘Miss Bundeschampionat’ Sophie Hinners took all three medals. She came second with the Holstein mare La Calina and third with the Quaid/Fidji du Fleury daughter Quelle Mademoiselle (breeder: Martina Zilinska, Dolni Domaslavice/CZE), who was one of the diamonds in the rough at the Elite Auction in October last year.
